For the Cannabutter:

  1. Preheat oven to 245 degrees

  2. Break your flower down using your fingers and bundle in parchment paper. Place the bundle in an oven-safe silicone bag or wrap in foil. Just make sure whatever you do, it's airtight. Place in a small baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes.

  3. Remove the pan from the oven and let cool. Remove the parchment pouch from your foil or silicone bag and then remove the cannabis flower. Grind the flower using a grinder or scissors.

  4. Place a non-stick saucepan over medium heat and add the butter to the pan. Using a rubber spatula or a rubber whisk, stir constantly for 5-6 minutes until brown bits start to form. Once the butter starts to brown nicely, cut the heat and add the cannabis flower. Continue to stir for another 6 minutes. NOTE: If you're afraid your butter may burn, after adding the flower, pour the brown butter mixture into a bowl.

  5. Set aside until ready to use in the brownie batter!

  6. For additional help OR if you don't want to make brown butter, this guide is very helpful for making cannabutter.

For the Brownies:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees

  2. To a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment (or hand beaters), add the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and baking powder, and mix to combine.

  3. With the mixer on low, add the dissolved instant coffee, eggs, melted cannabutter, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and chia seeds. Mix until well combined.

  4. Grease a 9x13 baking ban and spoon the batter into the pan. Bake the brownies for 20 minutes, or until the edges begin to pull away from the sides of the pan. Remove the brownies from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes.

  5. Cut the brownies into 12 squares and START WITH ONE BROWNIE. Do not consume more than one at a time. Wait an hour or two to see how you feel before deciding to have another. Edibles take time to hit, so be patient.

  6. Bottoms up!


For the Cannabutter:

  • 1 gram of high-quality cannabis flower (AKA weed) for beginners --- 2-3 grams for more experienced edible bitches

  • 8 tbsp unsalted, high-quality butter (European style is best), sliced into 1 tbsp slices

For the Brownies:

  • 1 C all-purpose flour

  • 3/4 C unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 C granulated sugar

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp instant coffee, dissolved in 1 tsp water

  • 3 large eggs

  • 8 tbsp cannabutter, melted and browned

  • 60 grams vegetable oil (slightly more than 1/4 C)

  • 1/2 tbsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 C chia seeds
